A few days ago, I shared with you the skillet dinner rolls recipe, using a homemade 60 minutes bread dough recipe that my baking assistant Kendoll swears by.
Today, I am sharing with you this garlic Parmesan dinner rolls recipe that is even better. They’re sinfully good!
These dinner rolls use the same bread dough, with garlic-herb butter and Parmesan cheese. I personally love these rolls more as they are so dainty and pretty, tied into beautiful knots and baked to golden brown glory. Every bite is bursting with the garlicky and buttery flavors, with the cheesy nuance. I had so many of these when they were out of the oven, I didn’t even need butter, they were just amazing.

Garlic Parmesan Dinner Rolls Ingredients
- Active dry yeast
- Warm water
- Milk
- Sugar
- Salt
- Unsalted butter
- All-purpose flour
- Egg
- Garlic
- Parsley
- Shredded parmesan cheese

How To Make Garlic Parmesan Dinner Rolls
Step 1. Dissolve the yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar in warm water. Then heat the milk with the sugar, salt, and butter until lukewarm.
Step 2. Add the egg to the yeast mixture. Combine the yeast mixture, milk mixture, and all of the flour. Stir to combine well. Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes. Using a stand mixer with a dough hook, knead the dough for 5 minutes.
Step 3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C). On a floured surface, roll out the dough and divide it into 24 balls. Roll each ball into a rope and tie it into a knot. Cover and let it rise for 25 minutes.
Step 4. Meanwhile, prepare the garlic-herb butter by combining all the topping ingredients, except the Parmesan cheese. Brush the butter mixture generously over the surface and top with Parmesan cheese.
Step 5. Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until the center of the dinner rolls is cooked through and the tops are golden brown. Brush with the remaining butter mixture and serve warm.

I found just brushing top of roll didn’t really add much flavor overall. Tasted like your basic roll with a hint of flavor.
I liked recipe for ease of steps.
I will try again and see if I can amp up flavor.

Can you use less sugar Or is it 5 tablespoons due tot he amount of yeast being 2 packets?? How much does this yield?? Can you use less yeast..I make a large loaf of Bread recipe that I can turn into Cinnamon Buns, Christmas Bread, in a Pullman pan size pan..Itโs 1packet or 2 tablespoons yeast with dry milk & only 2 tablespoons sugar..Could I use that recipe and add the seasoning to make this??

5 tablespoons sugar is due to the amount of yeast. by shorting the sugar with that much yeast it may impact the growth of the rolls and the fluffiness of them. I found it yields around 24 knots. I don’t see why you couldn’t use the recipe you have and just add the seasoning to that mix. I found I like to make these without the garlic and coat in cinnamon sugar and drizzle with sweetened cream cheese so like a cinnamon roll knot .

I was in the understanding that any dough was freezable after its first rise ??
Made these with spaghetti tonight for dinner. They were delicious and everyone loved them. I used fast rise yeast since I didn’t have enough regular active yeast. I used 4 tsp fast rise yeast. I mixed everything in my mixer bowl to save on dishes and then used my bread hook to knead. Made 22 knot rolls and then I ran out of rom on my tray so I made 2 breadsticks. I also didn’t have any shredded Parm on hand so I used cheddar.

This is the first bread recipe I’ve tried and have been 99% satisfied. The only thing these need is a bit of salt before baking. Will definitely make these again.
All bread recipes require salt for proper activation of the sugar and yeast from my understanding Does it not call for Salt?
